On Friday 19th January
pupils from across Redbridge ( Glade Primary, Fairlop Primary, Redbridge
Primary, Uphall Primary, Grove Primary, Little Heath School and Highlands
Primary) connected over zoom with their local MP Wes Streeting .
Wes listened to the pupils
talking about why they liked Redbridge. “People are kind,” and “we have
lots of green spaces”, were just a couple of the common reasons.
The pupils also spoke about
what they wanted to change about their local area. Less litter , more
help for homeless people and no smoking areas were just a few ideas.
The pupils even got a glimpse
inside the offices where Wes is based in Ilford.
Wes told the pupils to be as
ambitious as possible and to aim high, he told the pupils to work hard at
school, and then they could achieve whatever they wanted. "Just aim right at the
very top", he said, "and nothing can stop you".
Wes spoke about his career
and why being a politician is really important to him.
“ Being a Politian for me is
a great way to make a difference to people’s lives, I have lived in
Redbridge for over 20 years, which means I know all about our community”
