Live into a Jungle in Borneo to meet Orangutans
Children from Loxford School, Highlands Primary, and Mayespark Primary in Redbridge all connected live via V-Scene (JISC) to Borneo, Indonesia this morning. They spoke to experts from BOS ( Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation) and the freedom five team that have been filming live footage of the mammals in their natural habitat with Vid4hire.
The children asked questions about the behaviour and characteristics of the orangutans and wanted to know how they communicated and survived in the wild. They met a baby orangutan named, 'chichi' with her family, and heard what noises she made.
Using video conferencing technology to connect live into natural habitats to see and meet animals has enriched and supported the science curriculum for the KS1 and KS2 children.
